He added: “The Government appears adamant that the light at the end of the tunnel is only four or five months away, given that is when the SEISS scheme is currently due to end.

“What is required, however, is a complete understanding of the support that self employed may not be entitled to, such as things like sick pay.”

Even if the economy does open up at the end of the next four or five months as predicted by the Government, growth and recovery will be slow.

Businesses won’t be able to regain their losses overnight, while a number will likely struggle to get back to pre-pandemic levels within a small time frame, meaning an inevitable loss of jobs and profit for some.
